What you can expect from a Haberdashers' Sixth Form Education

Knowledge, Confidence and Character

At Haberdashers, we believe that education is about more than just academic achievement. We nurture a well‐rounded development that builds knowledge, confidence, and character. Our tailored approach not only equips you with essential subject knowledge but also empowers you to think critically, communicate effectively, and make confident decisions for your future.

Exclusive Opportunities to learn beyond the classroom

Our sixth form experience is enriched with exclusive opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom. From innovative projects and leadership initiatives to partnerships with local businesses and higher education institutions, we provide a platform for you to apply your academic learning in real-world contexts. These experiences, known as the Haberdashers' Advantage, are designed to inspire creativity, boost your skills, and prepare you for a successful future.

Belong to a supportive community

At the heart of our sixth form is a vibrant, supportive community where every student is valued. We foster an inclusive environment that encourages collaboration, resilience, and personal growth. With a network of dedicated teachers, mentors, and peers, you will find the guidance and support you need to thrive both academically and socially, ensuring you feel at home from the very first day.

The Haberdashers' Advantage

Our young people have a world of opportunities at their fingertips through our unique character curriculum: The Haberdashers' Advantage.

Thanks to our staff, the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers, our community, and our many partners, the Haberdashers experience for every learner is like no other.  By giving them this advantage, we support our young people to be happy, confident and successful individuals who will contribute to making their communities – and the world – a better place.

Habs Aspire Mentoring for every Sixth Former

Habs Aspire is our flagship mentoring programme, designed to support every Year 12 student across our Sixth Forms with tailored, professional guidance for life beyond school. Each student is matched with an experienced mentor from a wide range of industries, who offers personalised careers advice, application support and insights into the world of work.

Through one-to-one mentoring, students build the confidence, skills and ambition they need to take their next steps—whether applying for university, apprenticeships or employment. As well as helping students prepare for interviews and navigate their options, mentors act as trusted guides, empowering each young person to realise their full potential.

Exclusive Trips, Events and Competitions

Our Sixth Formers benefit from a vibrant calendar of events, trips and competitions designed to enrich their experience beyond the classroom. From Dragon’s Den-style business challenges and social action projects to music performances and subject-specific visits, these opportunities support both academic development and personal growth.

Whether performing on stage, pitching ideas to panels, or exploring new environments, students gain valuable skills, broaden their horizons and make lasting memories. Two examples:

Livery Academy Awards

The Livery Academy Awards give Sixth Formers the chance to develop entrepreneurial, teamwork and presentation skills through a high-profile competition supported by the Lord Mayor of the City of London. Students from across our Sixth Forms compete for the opportunity to represent the Haberdashers’ Company in the finals at Mansion House, pitching a youth-focused business idea to a panel of investors. We’re proud that students from Knights Academy represented the Company in the City-wide finals in 2023—an impressive reflection of their talent and ambition.

Haberdashers Musician of the Year
This competition celebrates the musical accomplishments of Haberdasher students across the UK. Congratulations to Manny, a Year 13 student at Haberdashers’ Hatcham College studying A Level Music, for winning the annual Haberdashers' Musician of the Year competition in 2025. Manny delivered an outstanding solo piano performance of Rachmaninoff’s Moment Musicaux Op. 16 No. 3 in B minor, impressing judges with his technical skill and musicality.

Elective Curriculum

Our rich and varied elective curriculum is designed to support students' personal growth and academic ambition through a blend of extracurricular and super-curricular opportunities. These programmes help to build the knowledge, confidence and character our Sixth Formers need to take their next steps with purpose after school.

Each Wednesday afternoon, students have dedicated time for elective lessons. They can choose from a wide range of options offered not only within their own Sixth Form, but across all Haberdashers’ Sixth Forms. These are delivered by expert teachers from across the Trust and trusted external partners, ensuring access to high-quality experiences for every student.

From photography, music and drama, to competitive sport and advanced study in subjects like English, History, Maths and Science—our elective offer extends learning well beyond the classroom, helping students develop both academically and personally.

Haberdashers’ Futures Programme

Each year, Sixth Formers from across our schools come together for the Haberdashers’ Futures inspiring careers conferences focused on a specific professional sector. Past events have explored fields such as medicine, law, architecture and property, offering students a behind-the-scenes look at these industries through visits to leading organisations including St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Old Bailey.

The programme is enriched by the involvement of members of the Haberdashers’ Company—highly accomplished professionals who bring with them deep expertise and extensive networks. These connections offer students unparalleled access to real-world insights, mentoring and professional pathways.

Designed to broaden horizons, build confidence and nurture ambition, the Futures Programme equips our Sixth Formers with the knowledge and networks to take bold steps into their chosen futures.
