GCSE Results Day Brings Smiles and Success at Knights Academy

Students and staff at Knights Academy are celebrating today as Year 11 students received their GCSE results, with improvements in key measures and some exceptional individual performances. 

This year saw a particularly encouraging improvement in English and Mathematics, with a 5% increase in the proportion of students achieving a strong pass - grade 5 or above - in both English and Maths.

Alongside the improvement across the cohort, a number of students achieved particularly strong sets of results: 

• Ying Han Lin achieved an outstanding set of grades, including three grade 9s, four grade 8s, a grade 6 and a grade 5.
• Maria Safonova also produced exceptional results, achieving two grade 9s, four grade 8s, two grade 7s, a grade 6 and a grade 5.
• Haseeb Shahzad secured another impressive collection of top grades, including two grade 9s, four grade 8s and three grade 7s, alongside grades 6.
• Arron Zabanyana achieved four grade 9s and two grade 8s, alongside further strong grades across his GCSEs.
• Sharanya Saju achieved an excellent set of results, including three grade 9s and five grade 8s, as well as grades 7 and 6.
• Leona Berjani also performed strongly across the board, achieving a grade 9, two grade 8s and two grade 7s, with all of her remaining grades at grade 6.

Results day is a big moment for students and families, and it is good to be able to celebrate so many strong outcomes today. There are some exceptional individual results, but what matters just as much is the wider improvement across the year group, particularly the increase in students achieving strong passes in both English and Maths.

These results represent a huge amount of work by students over a number of years, and I want to congratulate them on what they have achieved. I also want to thank our teachers and staff, whose commitment and support has helped make these outcomes possible.

It is also encouraging to see this alongside the improved Sixth Form results we celebrated last week. With many of our Year 11 students choosing to stay at Knights for the next stage of their education, there is a real sense of momentum across the Academy.
