Catering
Haberdashers' Academy Trust South has teamed up with Innovate Catering to provide a nutritionally balanced meal that is exciting for our pupils.
About Innovate Catering
Innovate has long been considered the most inventive school caterer, all our dishes are prepared every day using quality, fresh and seasonal ingredients that are responsibly sauced.
Our very talented Executive Chefs and our fantastic catering teams will be serving exciting menus packed with healthy ingredients, that are full of variety, and with loads of interesting new things to try. It's important that the food tastes as good as it looks, and we're sure you won't be disappointed
We want to ensure that all our customers have access to a healthy nutritious meal; with this in mind, we have some deals in place. These include the hot main meal offer, a hot wrap or hot chefs special with a hot dessert.
We have also developed our "Blue Dot Deal", 4 items can be purchased for £2.65 and for FSM pupils. Selected hot items such as garlic bread, mini pizza boats, mushroom quesadilla, and selected cold items such as filled rolls, crudités, fruit pots etc (usually priced at 90p each) can be bundled together at the free school meal price. However, students can purchase any items they wish that fall within the free school meal allocation, including the breakfast and breaktime offer at the school.
How to pay
We are a cashless school, all meals can be paid for in advance via ParentPay - www.ParentPay.com. Please contact the academy office if you do not have a ParentPay log-in.
Our caterers also provide students with the option to purchase breakfast items served from 08:00 - 08:15 and a light snack at breaktimes.
Packed Lunches
We encourage our pupils to eat a balanced and healthy diet. Our canteen offers a range of healthy, delicious meals.
Should your child prefer to bring a packed lunch, here are some guidelines we would appreciate you follow:
Packed lunches should include:
- At least one portion of fruit and one portion of vegetables.
- A carbohydrate food such as wholemeal or granary bread, pasta, potato salad.
- Dairy food such as milk, cheese, yogurt or
- Meat, fish or other source of non-dairy
- Drinks should be water (still or sparkling), fruit juice, semi skimmed milk, yogurt or milk drinks or smoothies.
An example of a healthy packed lunch may look like this:
- Tuna or ham salad sandwich
- Bread sticks with a hummus dip, cucumber or carrot batons
- Apple
- Yogurt; and
- A bottle of flavoured water.
Packed lunches should not contain:
- Snacks such as crisps. (Instead they can bring seeds, vegetables and fruit. Savoury crackers or bread sticks served with fruit or vegetables are also a good choice.)
- Confectionery such as chocolate bars and sweets. Cakes and biscuits are allowed, but these should only be eaten as part of a balanced meal.
- Meat products such as sausage rolls, individual pies, corned meat and sausage / chipolatas should be included only occasionally.
- Fizzy drinks or energy drinks (these are not allowed in school at all).
Allergies & Special Diets
Please be aware that some students suffer from severe nut allergies. Please do not put items in your child's packed lunch containing nuts.
We also recognise that some students may require special diets that do not exactly comply with Health In Education standards. In this case we urge you to be responsible in ensuring that packed lunches are as healthy as possible.
For the reasons above, we ask that pupils do not swap food items.
