Sixth Form Dress Code
Our Sixth Form students are ambassadors for the Academy and are expected to present themselves in a smart and professional manner at all times. The standards set out in our dress code reflect the high expectations we have of students in every aspect of Sixth Form life.
Our dress code has been designed to be smart, affordable and inclusive. Any student who requires support or financial assistance should speak to the Head of Sixth Form.
Students should wear:
Tops
- Formal shirts, blouses or smart tops
- Male students wearing a shirt must also wear a tie
- Plain, smart jumpers may be worn
Bottoms
- Formal tailored trousers, worn correctly at the waist at all times
- Formal skirts of at least knee length
- Formal dresses of at least knee length that are not made from stretchy material
- Dresses should have sleeves that cover at least the upper part of the arm
Footwear and Accessories
- Formal shoes
- A plain, non-fashion belt may be worn
- Blazers should be worn, although they may be removed during warm weather
- Scarves may be worn outdoors but should be removed inside the building
Religious Dress
Students who wish to wear Islamic dress may wear a simple jilbab and hijab. A formal business-style jacket should also be worn.
The following items are not permitted:
- Casual dresses, including those with vest-style tops, very thin straps or strapless designs
- Denim or jeans, including denim jackets, shirts, skirts or trousers
- Clothing with large logos, slogans or decorative studs
- Casual trousers such as combat trousers, tracksuit bottoms or leggings
- Casual tops such as T-shirts, hoodies, fleeces, tracksuit tops, vest tops, crop tops or off-the-shoulder tops
- Shorts or tracksuit bottoms worn underneath trousers
- Tight-fitting or narrow-legged trousers made from stretchy, legging-style material
- Sportswear
- Very short skirts or revealing clothing
- Trainers, canvas shoes, leisure shoes, pumps, Vans or Kicker-style trainers
- Hats, caps and gloves inside the building
- Clothing made from sheer or transparent fabrics
- Visible tattoos, wherever possible
Students who do not meet the dress code expectations may be asked to return home to change. Parents and carers will be contacted the first time a student is sent home for not meeting the Sixth Form dress code.
