Haberdashers' Knights Academy

Support that makes a difference

Whatever your next steps are, we're here to help you get there. At a Haberdashers' Sixth Form, we know that strong support - both in and out of the classroom - is key to success. From your first day to your final exam, you'll have access to the right guidance, encouragement and care every step of the way.

Settling in

Starting Sixth Form is a big step – and we make sure you feel confident from day one. All students take part in an induction programme starting in July, that helps you settle in, understand what’s expected and get to know your new environment, including our dedicated Sixth Form study and teaching space.

Whether you’re joining us from another school or continuing your journey at a Haberdashers’ school, you’ll be supported to make a strong start. From workshops on study habits and time management to meeting your Sixth Form team and peers, we help you build the foundations for success.

Academic Support

We're ambitious for you and we'll give you the tools to achieve your best.

As a Sixth Form student, you’ll benefit from:

  • Regular progress checks and feedback
  • Timetabled supervised study sessions
  • Access to an academic tutor or subject support when needed
  • Personalised advice to help you succeed in each of your subjects
  • Stretch and challenge opportunities for high achievers, including Oxbridge support

Our approach combines high expectations with high levels of support to help you grow into an independent and resilient learner.

Careers Support

Your future is important to us – and we’ll help you make informed choices and take the right steps forward. All students benefit from structured careers guidance, including:

  • One-to-one careers advice
  • Support with university and apprenticeship applications
  • Help writing CVs and preparing for interviews
  • Access to the Unifrog careers platform
  • Opportunities to meet alumni and employers
  • Trips to UCAS and apprenticeship fairs

You’ll also take part in themed careers conferences and work experience opportunities as part of our wider Haberdashers’ Advantage offer.

Pastoral Support

We want you to thrive both academically and personally. That’s why our Sixth Form has a dedicated team of staff who are here to support your wellbeing, provide guidance and help you manage whatever life throws at you.

Whether you need help with workload, friendships, confidence or something more personal, there’s always someone you can talk to. Students can access drop-in sessions with a welfare officer, as well as targeted support during exam periods.

You’ll be known, supported and respected for who you are.

We have Heads of Year 12 and Year 13, who are the first port of call if students need support both academically or pastorally as well as being supported by the Assistant Principal and Vice Principal for Sixth Form.

Financial Support

We know that financial barriers can sometimes make education more challenging - so we're committed to helping where we can. Support is there to ensure every student can focus on learning and make the most of Sixth Form life.

16-19 Bursary

The 16–19 Bursary is available for eligible students and is means-tested, based on your parent or guardian’s income. Applications are made at the start of each academic year through an online portal called Bursary+.

If your application is successful, you’ll receive an individual bursary allowance which can be used to support your studies — for example, to cover the cost of travel, textbooks, revision resources, or essential stationery.

Haberdashers’ Scholarships

Our long-term support from the Haberdashers' Company means that we can offer bursaries and scholarships to Sixth Form students including:
