Drama
Curriculum Intent
The Drama department at Knight's Academy aims to develop creative, confident and literate Drama practitioners through a stretching and relevant curriculum.
Our curriculum is designed not only for learners to develop their skills in the performing Arts, but also to develop communication and team skills. In KS3 students' progress through developing basic vocal and physical skills, dramatic devices, devising and working with a script through practical tasks designed as preparation for KS4 Performing Arts, should they take it as a subject.
In KS4, students undertake the BTEC Tech award in Performing Arts which is comprised of 3 components. The early course is designed to prepare students for Component 1: Exploring the Performing Arts and provides students the theory around the preparation and performance of theatre. Students then focus on performing a script and devising their own piece of theatre in preparation for the practical assessments – Components 2 and 3 of the courses.
