Geography
Curriculum Intent
The Geography curriculum aims to make sense of the physical, human and environmental world. Students are encouraged to investigate and understand all these aspects of the diverse world in which we live and develop a locational knowledge of where places are. We are of the firm belief that our curriculum will enable students to ask investigative questions and use a wide range of geographical data to investigate places and culture.
The curriculum is highly relevant, encompassing contemporary issues including, but not limited to, climate change, natural hazards, globalisation and migration. The curriculum incorporates contextualisation and case studies to develop pupils’ understanding of geographical concepts, making these much more relatable and enabling pupils to become evaluative Geographers. The vertical integration of knowledge throughout each year ensures that essential knowledge and skills acquired at KS2 can be built upon and further developed through KS3-5, therefore increasing pupils’ opportunity to excel.
