Haberdashers' Knights Academy

History

 Curriculum Intent

The Haberdashers’ Federation History curriculum aims to provide pupils with powerful knowledge and cultural capital to allow them to thrive in modern society. Our curriculum is diverse and taught chronologically ensuring pupils gain a key understanding of British, European and Global history. This allows our pupils to link historical individuals, events, periods, and societies to current affairs. Through historical scholarship we critique text, analyse sources and interpretations as well as study causation, significance and change & continuity though time. We challenge misconceptions and teach our students not only to answer questions but also to pose them, encouraging ethical and moral debates. At the Haberdashers’ Academies Trust, History is 'our story'.

Careers and Opportunities

Students of history find their experience directly relevant to jobs in a variety of careers and the number of explicit professional jobs for historians is considerable, including:

  • Journalism
  • Law
  • Government and Politics
  • Museum work
  • Business and Finance
  • Academics
