Curriculum Intent
Our curriculum intent for Science is to ensure that students master the knowledge and skills needed to solve problems in everyday life. Students are given the opportunity to explore and challenge scientific phenomena to build curiosity and become self-regulated learners. We believe our science curriculum fosters healthy inquisitiveness in our students and promotes respect for the living and non-living.
During the foundation years, students cover scientific basics such as cells, atoms and forces that they will build upon throughout their time in school.
The GCSE curriculum continues with the process of building upon and deepening scientific knowledge and the understanding of ideas developed in KS3 in the subject disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
KS5 provides the opportunity for learners to focus on varied specialisms, to provide broad-based knowledge and preparation for deeper studies for university and beyond. We offer Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Applied Science at this level.
